It’s almost November and you haven’t saved up for Christmas shopping yet. With Black Friday, Cyber Monday and all the other Christmas Holiday sales just around the corner, this is the perfect time to stock up a little cash so you can make the most of them.
Is it too late? Heck no. You have a whole month! A month to get to work, scrounge up that loose change, and get creative.
You still have a month to pinch those penny’s and have good chunk of change set aside for the Christmas holiday.
November Money Saving Challenge
Everyone loves a good challenge. You can do almost anything for one month. Whether it’s a fitness challenge, a savings challenge or a beard growing challenge, it can be fun.
The hard part about a challenge is coming up with a plan. Say no more my friend, I have that covered for you. Grab the printable at the bottom of the post to get started.
All Challenges are Simple… but not easy. How to find money to save
And this one is no different.
It’s all in the math. Save $10 a day for 30 days. Simple to say, not so simple to do.
Money doesn’t just pop out of nowhere into our wallets. We have to work, work, work.
Here are a few of the easier ways you can come up with some fast cash
- Sell stuff: clothes, old toys, furniture, electronics, etc… Have a yard sale or put it up for sale on Facebook or Craigslist.
- Sell artwork: This is for real, Etsy. Instagram and eBay are 2 easy ways to do this. People LOVE handmade items. Go check out what’s out there in the market. You’ll be amazed at some of the stuff people buy. Did you know your kids can even sell their school artwork?
- Sell crafts: or pieces for crafts if you don’t want to make stuff. You can go on a walk and gather pine cones, acorns, pretty leaves, sticks, etc… and people will pay you for it! You can even sell the lint from your dryer.
- Work a side job: rake leaves, mow lawns, water plants, walk dogs, babysit, online transcription (like Rev.com). Companies like Honey Baked Ham or the mall have jobs only open during holidays due to demand. Are you great or even just good at gift wrapping? Offer those services locally.
- Sign up for rebate programs: Now this one is a long term strategy but every little bit helps. You save immediately on purchases because of the discount codes but you earn the money over time. I use Rakutan and Ibotta and have gotten back a few hundred dollars over the past 2 years. They really are legit and are so simple to use. Check out this article on how they work. (Those are my affiliate links, I’m in on the boat too, trying to save and earn some money for the holidays)
- Go through your old clothes, luggage and your car: Don’t laugh but I find loose change and money every single time. $5 in an old jacket, 75 cents under the floor mat, $2 in an unused purse. It adds up.
- Menu planning: SO MUCH food goes to waste when we buy it but don’t end up eating it all. Grab this Printable Dinner Menu planner to fight this. You’ll save at the store and have more money in your wallet for the challenge. (along with knowing what’s for dinner each night)

Don’t have $10/day. Try $5 instead. You’ll end up with $150.
Or you could do $20/day and have $600!
You can even get your kids in on it and have them put a quarter in a jar every night. They’ll have $7.50 at the end of the month. Not a lot by adult standards, but kids go nuts over that stuff. At the end of first month take them to the store and let them reap the benefits of their effort. It’s a great teaching tool to get them interested in saving and understanding the value of money.
This is the counting change jar that my kids use to keep their change together. I bought different colors for each one so they wouldn’t fight over which one belonged to who.
As long as you save SOMETHING everyday, you’ll end up ahead. It’s only 30 days. You can do this!
