Save an extra $1000 for those holiday expenses with this easy to follow Christmas savings plan.
Christmas is always just around the corner. Well, it seems that way at least. I know the season isn’t about gifts, but it is nice to be able to afford them. We all know it doesn’t end there, that is just the beginning of the holiday expenses. Add on the increased food costs, holiday party expenses and possibly travel and the tally can be high.
Getting It Together
I like to plan. Give me instructions and get out of my way. When I know what is going to happen, I’m at ease. I wasn’t that way until college though, I found myself truly on my own for the first time and needed to be smart about money so I wouldn’t end up with horrible debt and could live within my means.
I like to pay for things up front. I find I can make deals, and be more aware of what I’m spending when I have cash in hand. That’s a nice thought, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to actually have cash when I need it. I needed a way to save that was easy to follow, and didn’t seem too difficult to complete.
What would you do with an extra $1000?
This list is incredibly simple to follow, and at the end of it you have a little over a grand to spend. This plan can be used to save up for any expense. Do you want to go on a cruise or girl’s weekend, need a down payment for a house/car, want a tummy tuck, or to buy a puppy? All of these can be 100% paid for with a little planning.

For me personally, the hardest part of budgeting, is taking the initial money out of my account. I feel like it’s in another place far away from me. I worked for that money and I want to use it. That doesn’t make sense, I know that. It’s still mine, it isn’t gone. This plan helps my brain cope, just one dollar to start is easy to do. By the last week, you’ll be so used to adding money to your account that you won’t even feel it.
Why do it?
Ask yourself this question, “What could I do with this money?” Even if you don’t have a set plan for the cash right now there is something that will come up soon enough. Something always comes up. This past year alone that something was a hail storm, a tree getting struck by lightning and falling onto the neighbors new shed, a trip to ER for one kid after tripping on his own feet, and a nail in the car’s tire. Ok, that’s a lot of somethings, but the point is, none of them were expected. Things happen all the time, to everyone.
That being said, Christmas will still happen on schedule and we need to be ready for it. With this plan you will, at least, be ready for it.
